Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
EFT can release energy blockages that cause negative emotions by tapping on meridian points on the body (derived from acupuncture).
Now before you go ‘wow this is WAY too woo-woo for me!’ let me tell you my story…
I was diagnosed with postnatal (also known as postpartum) depression after my second child was born (though I had it with my first, just never diagnosed). I was told by my doctors to visit psychologists, which I did. In fact, I got my way through four psychologists and one psychiatrist! As this was not helping my depression and anxiety, I tried hypnosis and at least three further practitioners in varying fields, but nothing was really working.
I realised I didn’t want to talk about my past until the cows came home, and I didn’t want to just ‘discuss’ what was going on for me (as far as I was concerned, my childhood was fairly normal, it was the adjusting to motherhood with my own personal circumstances that was causing me to fret). I wanted action and I wanted RESULTS….FAST!
So I did a bit of Google-ing (as you do!) and came across EFT. I liked the sound of it but also thought ‘this is a bit woo-woo’. Well I really had nothing to lose, so I did a few sessions with a practitioner and was impressed by the results. However, when I was in a bad head space at home, I really wanted to have the skills to use it by myself. So I started practicing more and more and the results were outstanding! So outstanding that I did the EFT Practitioner course to get more skilled up.
I have made HUGE emotional shifts whilst using this technique. Shifts that have gotten me out of many an emotional muddle. What I love about it, is that it is so easy to use and the results are immediate. You feel lighter and can really feel that emotional baggage lifting. This technique was a lifesaver for me and I haven’t looked back. And no, I don’t have the depression anymore (though I would like to point out that EFT was just one part of that puzzle – but that’s a story for another time)!
Please note that EFT is not a cure for depression, anxiety or anything where you might need the help of a medical practitioner. However, it certainly helps as a add-on skill.

So EFT can be an ongoing process used to clear out the old traumas, and welcome any new challenges with a healthy, productive attitude, including our spirited children!
